Normalized Characteristics of Neo-ZB Zinc Borate
Neo-ZB Zinc borate (Zinc Borate) is produced by Kostromaneosynthesis LLC in accordance with TU 2146-001-61 914 412-2010
Description of Zinc Borate
Use of Zinc Borate
The product is recommended for most thermoplastics, including polyamides. It is recommended for use in polyurethane thermosetting resins, plastisols, adhesives.
The product is widely used as a flame retardant and as a smoke suppressor.
Zinc borate can be used in paints and varnishes as a pigment with anticorrosive properties, fungicidal action.

- Polyurethane thermosetting resins;
- Plastisols.
Action of Zinc Borate
Zinc borate retains crystallization water up to temperatures of 280-300 ° C, allowing this product to be used in polymers that require high-temperature treatment.
This reagent promotes the formation of a strong coke crust on the polymer surface.
By itself, it forms a glassy mass on the surface, and in the presence of antimony oxides and halogen-containing flame retardants, it promotes the formation of Sb-O-Br groups, and also suppresses smoke formation, catalyzing the formation of polyaromatic structures that eventually form a coke layer.
Substitution of polymer additives
Depending on the basis of the polymer used and the required safety standards, zinc borate can be used to partially (in some cases completely) replace other polymer additives (such as antimony trioxide). In some systems, it exhibits synergism with antimony trioxide. In halogen-containing systems, the level used is in the range of 3 - 25 masses. parts per 100 masses. polymer parts.
In halogen-free systems, the recommended amount is 10 - 250 wt. The parts are usually applied with aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide or silicone polymer.
In addition, the introduction of zinc borate into a polymer composition (for example, based on LDPE) can significantly improve the adhesive properties of the material.
